insane: Idle at the Reds Game

Written by evan on June 25, 2007

It was a clear and sunny summer day in Cincinnati. The birds chirping... The bees buzzing... I was driving to Nathan's home for we were going on a similar adventure. This time it was due to Nathan's job at Remke Markets that we ended up getting tickets to a baseball game!

(Pictured Below...)

But instead of a minor league game we were going to a full blown Major League Baseball game! So we had a picnic thing to go to at Remke headquarters in Florence, KY at 5:00pm. So at Nathan's I found out that he got a new cell phone. But I got bored we were gonna be late so to infuriate him i took a picture of him as he was talking to me. He got angry...

So we decided to move on out at like 5:15 after stalling for a while... we got to the Remke HQ at around 5:40 and ate what food was left... Just Hot Dogs, Metts, and Brats. We then got onto the school busses and headed for Great American Ballpark. The bus driver was a large man but he was no fun and all the other Remke employees and staff had no interest in the geekiness of me and Nathan. Nathan grabbed a few shots of Cincinnati! Including this hotel on the KY side of the river!

And the Roebling Suspension Bridge...

And a pic of me on the bus!

During the ride our driver informed us that we had to be dropped off some blocks away but we could make the walk. We entered the huge steel structure and with the help of a nice kind old lady who worked there we found our way to our seats. We found our seats of course in the bleacher section under the scoreboard. But I decided we should move up to the top row of the bleacher section in the cool shade of the scoreboard. But as the sun set it got its revenge on our (paleish) skin.

During the game I had to explain things to Nathan since Nathan isn't the athletically inclined sports type who sees, watches, hears, or cares about baseball. But while we were there we saw interesting and random things...

The first thing we noticed was a man sitting further down in the section appearing to be wearing a seat cushion on his head...

A zoom view in case you missed him...

We also saw a woman who seemed to fear the sun as it crept lower in the sky. She sat a few seats away from us... I am the brown t-shirt and jeans you can see...

As the game moved along the Reds were holding onto the lead (barely) and we took some pics of more random items including ourselves...

I sent this one to my mom...

And Nathan took a pic of someone selling (EXPENSIVE) sno-cones...

But after a long long game the Reds ended up winning due to me being there... (all 4 games I have gone to the Reds have won) and there was a bus to catch...

Once there we had to wait cause some people HAD to move to our bus from another bus and throw off the count of people in other busses which caused a delay... But the day ended great and we ultimately had a kickass time!
